Csi: Crime Scene Investigation: Miami - Las Vegas - NY

Nearly every week, there are at least 3 different CSI shows on TV - CSI Las Vegas, CSI Miami, CSI New York and sometimes a combination of CSI and some other series.

Nearly every week, there is a discussion in our house about whether watching CSI is a good idea, especially for younger people.

These shows are certainly fascinating and suspenseful, keeping the viewer interested the whole time and introducing a wide variety of crime scene investigation techniques and police methods, each set in a different city with its different kinds of problems.

Another good thing is that the main characters are people who like their job and feel it is an important contribution to the society they live in, which makes them positive role models. Throughout each series, we also get to see glimpses of their personal lives, showing us other challenges they must face as human beings, which can only increase our appreciation towards them.

And, of course, at the end of each episode, the bad guys are brought to justice by our diligent and creative crime scene investigators.

Having said that, all these CSI TV shows feature a dark world, where humans are divided between criminals, victims and police officers. In their world, many people are referred to as "Vic" (short for "victim") or "Perp" (short for "perpetrator"). The investigators suspect many, only to catch few, going through a parade of suspects with complete disregard for what the investigation might do to them if they are innocent.

Real criminals can seriously hone their skills just by watching CSI. Although the methods shown may not be the latest and greatest, surely there is much to be learned about cleaning up a place to make the police's life harder. If you consider the amount of time it takes to solve a crime vs. the time it takes to commit it, the CSI shows are telling criminals that they are outnumbering the police by huge factors and that they can commit many crimes by the time they are caught, if that ever happens.

Some criminals in the series are just like everybody else, but most of them are not. Many of them are very rich, driving around in luxury cars, dressing up in expensive clothes and spending their time in exclusive nightclubs. Particularly in Miami, rich people are closely associated with large-scale, ruthless crime.

Most people, especially grown-ups, think they are immune to the messages on television, but research shows this is not true. However, over time, we become conditioned by the shows we watch on TV and bring the feelings and situations we see into our own world.

Watching CSI, we start believing that criminals lurk everywhere, waiting for us to make the wrong move. After all, we see them in Las Vegas, Miami and New York. We identify with the heroes, adopt their points of view and then, little by little, our own world becomes darker, scarier and more polarized.

Lost TV Show Episode

Back on September 22, 2004 a new drama aired on ABC during primetime called Lost. The show follows the lives of a group of survivors of a plane crash who are all deserted on an island after their flight from Australia to the United States crashed in the South Pacific. Lost immediately became very popular after it first aired. Since its initial air date, Lost has aired four seasons and are currently airing their fifth season. This show not only airs in the United States. It airs in many countries that are affiliated with a regional ABC network. Lost is a show that has gained many viewers since its beginning. Since its first year of airing, they have gained more than 16 million viewers. Lost has also won many awards including an Emmy in 2005, a British Academy Television Award in 2005, a Golden Globe in 2006 and a Screen Actors Guild.

Lost is created by Jeffery Lieber, J.J. Abrahams and Damon Lindelof and it is directed by Jack Bender and Stephen Williams. The star studded cast including Matthew Fox, Evangeline Lilly, Dominic Monaghan, Elizabeth Mitchell, and Josh Holloway currently film the series in Oahu, Hawaii. Lost is one of the most expensive television shows that is currently on television today.

Lost currently airs during ABC's prime time Wednesday night programming. Many people who cannot watch Lost when it premiers choose to watch it online. You can choose to watch Lost online at ABC's webpage abc.com. You can get the new episodes the day after they air commercial free. As well as watching it on ABC or their website, Lost was one of the first series that has been available in Apple's iTunes store for downloads to an iPod or onto iTunes. As well as viewing new episodes on both sites, you can also view all of the previous seasons in case you want to go back and watch a favorite episode or see one you may have missed from last season. There are other sites you can visit too to watch Lost online, like AOL Video and you can also watch it on Microsoft's Xbox Live service.

Some people choose not to watch Lost on television or online and wait until the season is released on DVD and watch the season all at once. Lost has been very successful selling on DVDs, but not as successful as it has been airing in prime time programming or streaming online.

Nearly 20 years after riding his last Crusade, Harrison Ford makes a welcome return as archaeologist/relic hunter Indiana Jones in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, an action-packed fourth installment that's, in a nutshell, less memorable than the first three but great nostalgia for fans of the series. After escaping from them in a spectacular opening action sequence, Indy is coerced to head to Peru at the behest of a young greaser (Shia LaBeouf) whose friend--and Indy's colleague--Professor Oxley (John Hurt) has been captured for his knowledge of the skull's whereabouts. Whatever secrets the skull holds are tertiary; its reveal is the weakest part of the movie, as the CGI effects that inevitably accompany it feel jarring next to the boulder-rolling world of Indy audiences knew and loved. There's plenty of comedy, delightful stunts--ants play a deadly role here--and the return of Raiders love interest Karen Allen as Marion Ravenwood, once shrill but now softened, giving her ex-love bemused glances and eye-rolls as he huffs his way to save the day. Which brings us to Ford: bullwhip still in hand, he's a little creakier, a lot grayer, but still twice the action hero of anyone in film today. Outside Christmas Decorations - How to Make a Christmas Light Show

The ultimate goal of anyone who loves to decorate their yard for Christmas is to set up a full light show that includes music. These shows can be difficult to set up, but they are spectacular to see and are well worth the effort.

Here are some steps to get your started on creating your own show:

Do your Research.

Before going any further, be aware that setting up a Christmas lightshow as part of your outside Christmas decorations take a lot of time and patience. It can be a great hobby, but it's not as easy as plugging some lights in flipping a switch. So, if you are ready, keep reading.

You are going to need a few items to make this work:

1. A computer to do the programming.

2. A light controller with multiple channels. This is what controls the lights.

3. A software program to program the light controller. This will define when the lights turn on and off in relation to the music.

4. An FM transmitter to broadcast your music. Another option is a pair of speakers on your front porch, but it is unlikely that the neighbors appreciate the same song playing over and over again.

5. The lights! For a complete effect, this should include not just regular lights, but icicle lights, net lights and yard displays.

Organize and Plan.

Now you are getting down to the fun part. To make the show work, you will need to sit down with pencil and paper and design your system. Decide what music you want to play (preferably something that has to do with Christmas), and where the decorations will be. Your plan should include a drawing of your front yard, with sketches and notes on how the show will work.

Buy Your Equipment and Decorations

Now that you have your plan, you are ready to buy your decorations. This can get expensive fast, so do some research to make sure you aren't overpaying. I suggest going through the internet for the software and control box for the lights. A search in Google or Yahoo should yield several results and allow you to compare several options.

Test, Test, and Test!

It's important enough to say again: Test, Test, and Test! The first thing you should do is set up your controller for a single set of lights and make sure you can get it to turn on and off. Then get it to turn on and off to music. Then add a second set of lights and make sure you can get that one to turn on and off. See why this takes so long? It can be tedious, but the results are well worth it.

Set It All Up

After everything is programmed, it's just a matter of setting it up. Hang the lights, set up the displays, and plug it in.

Now, all you have left to do is sip hot cocoa and watch your neighbors scramble to get their decorations looking half as good as yours!
